Director - Labour Rights
Steve is a co-founder of Ergon and is a specialist in international labour standards. He has over 20 years experience in research, advice and training on a range of labour and decent work issues. He is a UK qualified lawyer.
He has consulted to major international institutions, not for profit organizations, trade unions and private sector companies, including the ILO, World Bank Group, EBRD, the European Commission, IOM, London 2012, the ETI, the UK Department for International Development and OSCE. He has worked on projects in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Central America, Peru, Senegal, Namibia, Russia, Ukraine, Jordan, Albania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong.
As well as working on consulting and research projects, Steve has a particular expertise in facilitating stakeholder dialogue and also devising and delivering a range of learning and development and training programmes.
His particular professional interests include:
- The interpretation and international labour standards and advice on their practical implementation
- The development of workplace and community grievance mechanisms which complement core concepts of freedom of association
- All aspects of trade relations and labour and human rights, particularly the development of effective and transparent monitoring mechanisms.
Before Ergon, Steve was Head of Employment Law at Incomes Data Services, the UK’s largest labour relations research centre and is a qualified UK lawyer. He also co-founded www.cpdcast.com, a service providing online professional training to the legal community.
