Director – Policy

Stuart has over 15 years experience within the fields of corporate responsibility and socially responsible investment. Until 2003 he was Research Director at Pensions & Investment Research Consultants Ltd (PIRC), where he was responsible for the development and delivery of pioneering research and shareholder engagement services related to corporate responsibility, corporate governance and socially responsible investment.
ImageHe has wide experience of analysing and developing practical policy responses to corporate responsibility and sustainability issues for a range of clients including institutional investors, trades unions, NGOs and government departments. He has worked on a range of shareholder engagement programmes including labour codes of conduct among retailers, corporate human rights policies, human resource policies and company performance and boardroom remuneration structures.

He is the author of numerous articles, research reports and policy documents including Corporate Governance Compliance Guide (IDS/Ergon), Corporate Governance Annual Review (1998-03, PIRC), and a contributor to Corporate Governance – a practical guide for directors.

Prior to PIRC, he was Economic Research Officer at the Anti-Apartheid Movement, London. He is a director of FairPensions – the campaign for responsible investment and PIRC. He was a member of the Consultative Committee of the Company Law Review (DTI), and an ex-director of Sustainable Investment Research International Group – Siri.
