Stirling has been working in the field of labour standards for nearly three decades in many types of organisations including the ILO, trade unions, co-operatives, the corporate sector and NGOs. He has had a number of positions at the ILO including lead evaluator of IFP/DIALOGUE (programme for Social Dialogue and Labour Law) for the ILO Governing Body, author of various ILO sectoral guidelines on work and HIV / AIDS and Chief Technical Advisor for the ILO in India on the Workers' Education Project (Occupational Safety Health and Environment).
Stirling also works within the fields of trade union education and co-operative development. He specialises in resource mobilisation and project management within in cross cultural working environments and has a strong track record in materials development, education, writing, research and evaluation. Publication areas include: HIV/AIDS, promoting co-operatives, social dialogue, child labour, and occupational health and safety. Stirling has wide-ranging in-country project experience including in Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bulgaria, Eritrea, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Namibia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Romania, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uganda, Vietnam. |
