Annie Watson is a consultant with many years’ experience in the international trade union movement. She was the director of the Commonwealth Trade Union Council from 1997 until 2005, when it became part of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions. Annie has travelled extensively in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean regions and worked with trade unions and labour organisations to develop policies on labour standards and corporate social responsibility, gender, relations with other civil society organisations and HIV and AIDS. She has also assisted trade unions to build their institutional capacity and to develop relationships with informal economy workers.
Annie has advised international aid agencies on the contribution trade unions can make to the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals and, in 2005, wrote a paper for the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD, outlining the union contribution to international development.
