Alastair Usher

Director - Research

A co-founder of Ergon, Alastair has provided strategic advice, training and technical guidance on labour rights and employment issues to a wide range of organisations, including the European Commission (EC), UK Trade Union Congress (TUC), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), UK Department for International Development (DFID), UK Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), International Finance Corporation (IFC) Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), and the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).

Kirsten Newitt

Senior Consultant

Kirsten started working for Ergon in 2008 and has managed research projects for a range of international organisations, including the ILO and the European Commission, with a focus on delivering clear and practical policy recommendations. She has experience in designing and carrying out stakeholder consultation processes and has carried out field work in differing geographical and political contexts, including Zambia, Ukraine and South Korea. As a qualified lawyer, she has provided advice and developed practical guidance material on labour standards in developed and developing economies.

Steve Gibbons

Director - Labour Rights

Steve is a co-founder of Ergon and is a specialist in international labour standards. He has over 20 years experience in research, advice and training on a range of labour and decent work issues. He is a UK qualified lawyer.

Pins Brown

Senior Consultant

Pins arrived at Ergon in 2008. Previously she had worked for the Ethical Trading Initiative, The Body Shop International, Anti-Slavery International and as a diversity trainer. Her particular interests within labour rights work are:

• Practical application of international labour standards to all workers
• improving the working conditions of small farmers/agricultural workers and homeworkers in international supply chains;

Brett Dodge

Researcher

Brett has a background in human rights law, international labour standards and corporate responsibility. Before joining Ergon in 2011, he worked as a human rights and labour standards specialist for a human rights risk advisory firm and previously worked at human rights organisations in the UK and abroad.
