Ruta Institutional investors

Strategic advice
We advise on the development of SRI and governance policies on labour and human rights issues appropriate for the client. This can reflect investment styles, market positioning, underlying client demand, investment products and risk profile. We monitor legal and regulatory developments that have human resource implications for investee companies and undertake trend analysis on market developments. We advise on shareholder engagement initiatives, both collaborative and at an individual institutional level.

Portfolio risk assessment
We develop strategies to identify and address labour and human rights risk within portfolios including country and sector risk briefings, stock risk classification tools, compliance monitoring processes, due diligence checklists and reporting formats. We produce documentation and on-line resources to support policy implementation including best practice guides and manuals.

Special projects
We undertake research projects into specific issues such labour risks in specific regions, or emerging issues on the labour and human rights agenda (e.g. age discrimination). This often involves consultation or co-ordination of stakeholder groups to develop new policy approaches.

Issue briefings
We provide background briefings and customised research on market and legal developments, regulatory background, sectoral issues and country profiles.

Training and support
We provide in-house training for analysts and investment managers on understanding labour and human rights issues. Our training modules address these issues within a broader risk management framework to deepen practical understanding of both policy and implementation challenges.
